granny square sweater
A one of a kind, crochet granny square sweater made from repurposed wool, acrylic, and cashmere yarn from thrifted sweaters. The design features two large granny squares that make up the front and back of the sweater, and large blocks of coloured granny square stripes down the sleeves. Featuring a small ribbed wool and cashmere neckline and cuff.
This product is made using: light blue yarn, which is 100% upcycled wool; light beige yarn, which is 95% lambswool and 5% cashmere; and maroon/red yarn, which is 65% acrylic and 35% wool. We source our materials from local thrift stores, where we carefully select gently used knitwear with holes, stains, or rips. The sweaters get washed, unraveled by hand, and respun into spools of yarn to be used in future products.
By purchasing items made using repurposed materials, you are participating in a circular economy! Making use of existing materials before producing new ones is truly one of our favourite sustainability practices here at maritime moose.
